Vintage Zenith 8 Jours steering wheel / dashboard clock made for EFAP (Emile Eigenheer Fabrique d’Appareils de Précision) in Corcelles. Designed to be incorporated into steering wheels and dashboards of military vehicles, buses, and high-end civilian automobiles in the 1930s-1940s. Swiss made. As seen in the photographs, the case may have been modified. As found condition. Clock runs when rocked gently. Offers gladly considered.
The Fabrique d’Appareils de Précision et compteurs (precision instruments and counters manufactory) Emile Eigenheer (EFAP) is located in Corcelles, near Neuchâtel, at 1, place de la Gare. Until the mid-1950s, it supplied automobile accessories, watches and other odometers, as well as clocks mounted on the steering wheels of Swiss post buses; the movements were supplied by the Zenith factory in Le Locle. Its logo “EFAP” is a registered trademark in Switzerland.
