I wanna rock!

My influences are Thin Lizzy, UFO, Pat Travers, Foghat, Montrose, Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, just to name a few. I like high energy but melodic rock and roll.
I play guitar. I can sing. Once upon a time, I was pretty good at both. Back in the 1990's, I spent a few years traveling around North America playing in professional bands, and also working as a stage tech/production assistant for some big-name artists touring major arenas. After that, I went to an audio engineering technical school, then spent eleven years working in a production studio editing radio and TV advertisements. The last serious band I was involved with was eight years ago. I haven't played guitar on a regular basis much in the last few years due to work and family taking most of my time. I stepped away from music and media in 2011 and got into another line of work, but I've come to realize that I miss the fun of a live music environment.
I am now looking to start a musical project with other people around my age: 50-ish kinda people who grew up listening to high energy rock music and want to have some fun. I don't care if you haven't been in a touring band, I don't care if you can't read music. You don't have to be the most technical player around. I've known people who were fabulous musicians and only played in home jam bands that I would rather work with than seasoned professionals who have large egos. The important factor here is that you can keep a steady beat/stay in tune, and most of all--have a good attitude and want to have some fun. My goal is rehearsals once or twice a week, which would eventually lead to public gigs. I'm not looking to "take the show on the road" at this point in life, but paying gigs 2-4 times a month would be nice.
I live on the Maine side of the Maine/NH border, not far from the Portsmouth, NH area. I have professional gear, but no real practice/rehearsal space. I'm willing to travel half an hour or so each way for rehearsal. I have some small PA equipment, and I'm willing to contribute to purchasing more gear as needed. A four-piece classic rock-oriented band is my hope--drums, bass, and two guitars, or maybe a keyboard player instead of a second guitarist, plus rotating lead vocals. I can sing, but I admit to having a limited range as I've gotten older.
Also, I have a day job, family, responsibilites, etc. I'm hoping to find people on the same page when it comes to that--no major drama, drug problems, etc. I just wanna have some fun, kick out some jams, and make some extra cash. If you're on the same page as me, please respond and maybe we can meet and talk and go from there.
