Fender Vibro Champ 1964 (original vintage Blackface series)
Fender’s 1964 Blackface series Vibro Champ sold more guitars for Fender than they ever imagined. Always a favorite choice in the studio, today 5 watt boutique amps are the rage for guitarists to practice “plugged in” at home.
- The amp was serviced in 2022 by FYD Amps of Burlington, VT. (Dan Lurie has his own line of boutique amps FYDAmps.com ).
- Dan dates the manufacture to 1966 and notes that all parts are original including vintage tubes. Caps, resistors replaced and a 3 prong plug added (See photo of invoice for details). Old resistors/caps and 2 prong cable included in the sale.
- The original speaker is good (and included) but I replaced it with an Eminence 8” 4ohm speaker with a hemp cone to beef up the lows. It’s a dream to play through - add some vibrato and I get lost for hours.
- the cab is in good condition for a 58 year old amp with minor bumps bruises that have been repaired, with no tears in the grill cloth or tolex (except as noted on bottom 2 corners). A Nashville exchange telephone number engraved on the chassis adds some mojo.
- Mojotone naugahyde cover is included.
