Lovely vintage player grade Martin 000-18. Plays and sounds great! Feather light construction produces resonant response. Stock examples of this year (1930) and model (000-18) sell for over 25k.
This guitar is “player grade”which is reflected in the affordable price listing.
Known historic alterations from stock are:
The back has been removed and the current non-original bracing was converted to lefty at some point. The guitar is currently set up and strung for right handed players.
The bridge plate is non-original.
The original bar frets have been replaced with t-shape frets.
What appears to have been done was a “California neck reset” on the neck. Once considered an alternative method for resetting a guitar neck.
There is overspray on the front of the guitar.
Unfortunate alterations to say the least during its 96 year lifespan. However it makes affordable what is for many a guitar that is otherwise too expensive and out of reach.
So if you want to foray into vintage Martin guitars, this 1930 (000-18) fits the bill!
