This is a mountain dulcimer. It is a McSpadden dulcimer, hourglass shape with a flat head. It has heart shaped tone holes. The top wood is redwood, the back and sides are cherry. It has book-matched wood. It is an instrument made by American craftsmen in the Ozark mountains in Arkansas. It is 4 string, but you can set it up with 3 like it is now. It is tuned to DAD, but sounds perfect in DAA too. It is the model 4FHCR if you look it up on their web site. It has strap buttons. It comes with a noter, a capo, some picks and extra strings. It has a padded case. I also have 3 popular beginner and intermediate dulcimer instruction books. Two are by the famous Stephen Seifert (famous in the dulcimer world anyway). One of those books is autographed by Stephen. The instrument is in perfect condition, was well taken care of and not a mark on it.
