body seem made of maple. It has mother of pearl inlays on the
fretboard and the headpiece, but some of them have worn off or fallen
off. There are some areas on the sides of the fretboard where the wood
is worn down or chipped away.
The body is open back, and about 11 inches in diameter. There is a
serial number 7059 stamped on the support in the body which dates the
manufacture to 1915 to 1920 by Rettberg & Lange. It has all of the
head retaining clamps around the body, but some of them are a slightly
different design. They are nickel plated, as is the head band clamp.
The head itself is plastic, and is not original. The head is labeled
Remco Weather King. My dad replaced the head on 26-SEP-98, according
to a note he wrote on the inside of the body.
It has all four strings, but it is probably not in tune. It does not
have a case.
