This is a complete 1963 BSA unit construction, 500cc vertical twin engine in very good, low mileage (under 15K) condition. I purchased this running engine as a replacement for a 1963 BSA A50 Star motorcycle that was being restored. I inspected the engine before buying it as it was going to be a "plug-and-play" swap for the tired, original unit. The complete, original BSA motorcycle was recently sold and the buyer didn't want to have a non-numbers-matching engine in the chassis. He will be rebuilding the matching numbers engine and did not want to buy the extra engine so I am selling the spare engine separately to someone who might need it now, or later. The cylinder head has been removed so I could inspect the valves and piston crowns, which checked out to be in fine condition. The engine spins over freely with no restriction and the transmission shifts easily through the gears. There are no broken fins on the head or cylinders and there are no gouges in the cases or covers. The engine is complete with the alternator and levers (kicker and shifter). I do not have the appropriate Monoblock carburetor. Please respond to the CL link for additional information.
