Position Title: Mason
Reports To: Foreman
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Position Summary:
Masons are responsible for providing high quality specialty trade services on commercial projects involving all types of stone, brick, and block work. As a result, Masons must be able to read and comprehend plans, designs, and blueprints to ensure that services are completed to specification. Where safety is a priority within the company Masons are responsible for ensuring that they are able to acquire and maintain relevant safety certification and adhering to state, federal, and company safety standards.
Position Description:
• Building structures with masonry units to client and company specifications.
• Responsible for insulating masonry units and structures.
• Assembly and installation of all masonry panels including anchors and supports.
• Tasks such as grinding, patching, and coating to ensure waterproofing of structures.
• Cutting, pointing, carving, cleaning, welding, and grinding of masonry units and joints.
• Accurately measures distances and lays out work.
• Mixes and prepares mortar, grout, and other adhesives for laying masonry units.
• Patching and cutting openings in masonry walls and structures.
• Placement of reinforcing materials for structures.
• Preparing and installing air barrier systems according to specifications.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area and assists with job site setup and break down.
• Examines brick, stone, and block work to ensure structure is built correctly.
• Transports and carries supplies, from trucks to job sites.

• Operates heavy equipment such as forklifts as needed.
• Works on high altitude platforms such as scaffolding.
• Preserve original brick, stone, and blockwork for historical restorations.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Two years of experience working as a commercial mason.
• Possess an OSHA 10 – Construction certification.
• Extensive knowledge of bricklaying, stonework, and blockwork techniques.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
• Ability to follow instructions and possess a high level of attention to detail.
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of math and geometry.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Technical/vocational school program completion preferred.
• Rough terrain certification or equivalent.
• Conventional scaffolding certification or equivalent.
• Five years of experience working as a commercial mason.

• Prolonged periods of standing, bending, stooping, stretching, and working outside.
• Physically able to perform labor required to lay brick, stone, and concrete blocks.
• Must be able to lift, move (push/pull), and carry up to 50 pounds alone.
• Must be able to lift, move (push/pull), and carry up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work at night when needed.
