Needs a new door latch internals, online parts places recommend replacing a series of related parts (think it was like $25), went a different direct and downsized. If you're handy, inexpensive fix for a microwave that otherwise works. Our second Panasonic and both had this problem eventually. Door says built in Nov 2010.
