A rare find! This collector’s deluxe limited edition book titled “Pan American's Pacific Pioneers: The Rest of the Story," is an incredible, comprehensive 696-page pictorial history of Pan Am’s first Pacific flights, documenting the era of “flying boats” detailing how Pan American Airways established air mail and passenger service across the Pacific. Written by Jon E. Krupnick and published in 2000, it serves as an expanded and updated version of Krupnick's award-winning 1997 work. The volume features extensive illustrations, including vintage photographs, color photos of award winning first flight souvenir covers, personal interviews, maps, ads, toys, brochures, aerophilately (stamp collecting related to airmail), and artifacts like timetables and posters, together with a foreword written by the late singer-songwriter and aviation enthusiast, Jimmy Buffett.
This out-of-print, special deluxe limited edition features an impressive high-end dark blue leather binding with silver-stamped lettering and a publisher's slipcase. Excellent, like new condition. From my personal collection in a non-smoking, no pets home.
