Submitted for your consideration is The Report of the Commissioner of Patents for the year 1858; Arts and Manufactures ~ Volume III (only). Published by James B Steedman, Printer; Washington (D.C.) ©1859. This is the last of a three-volume set, and profusely illustrated. Black Cloth binding (see below for condition particulars); 732 total pages ~ 674 of which are Illustrations. Ex-Library, but apparently only in reference capacity, or the condition would not be anywhere near as good. Also, no evidence of Dewey Decimal on Spine, which is another indication of restricted access.
You name it, it's in here; from what would become Civil War Drums, Firearms and Shoes, to Washing Machines and Billiard Tables (even contains a drawing of what looks like a Submarine). Fascinating collection of detailed diagrams on each and every U.S. Mechanical Patent approved for 1858; so many of which were about to come in handy during the four-year struggle to save the Union.

This is an extremely important book, jam-packed with lots of detailed information, and very Hard-to-Find!
