2009 Rocky Mountain Vertex 29 SE - LARGE in very good condition.
One of several bicycles I split time on but I haven't been using this one as much so time to sell or build a monstercross bike...hmmm
It was my introduction to 29er wheels and it sure does have it's advantages once you get them spun up.
Size large, 19"...I'm 5' 10" and it fits me great
- Frame: 7005 Aluminum FORM technology for ride quality. Tapered 1.5″ to 1-1/8″ headtube and 135mm rear dropouts. Frame has 3 cool features that drew me to it: short chainstays for a 29er, 3 sets of bottle bosses, rear eyelets for fenders or rack which is cool for bikepacking (although I never ended up using the eyelets).
Only issues are some paint scratches that I touched up with some gold glitter Testers model paint. Not perfect match (fashion) but protects metal (function). Left hand side tip-over on a technical rock face climb I've done a hundred times but not this time. Right hand side the typical granny gear chain suck many 3x bikes got...apparently even more prevalent on the stock Race Face crankset, which is why I went XT.
- Fork: FOX F32 RL 29 100mm travel fork, 100mm dropout. (recently cleaned, fluid changed and dust seals just replaced with Enduro fork seals...blue)
- Crankset: upgraded the crankset to Shimano XT from Race Face Turbine.
It is currently set up 2 x 9 (Race Face bash ring in place of big chain ring.) and chain tensioner added to reduce chain slap ( clutch RD hadn't been invented yet)
- BB: Shimano SMBB91
- Shifters: Shimano SLX
- RD: Shimano XT
- FD: Shimano SLX
- Cassette: Shimano 12-36 tooth
- Chain: Shimano HG53
- Front Wheel: RMB Hand built. Stans ZTR 355 29" Tubeless Ready on Disc Cartridge Bearing 15mm Axle 100mm width. DT Swiss spokes, Maxxis Ardent 29 x 2.4, set up tubeless. Lots of life left.
- Rear Wheel: RMB hand built. Stans ZTR 355 29" Tubeless Ready on Shimano M529 Disc 135mm width 9mm QR skewer DT Swiss spokes. Maxxis Ignitor 29 x 2.1, set up tubeless. Lots of life left
- Brakes F/R: Italian Formula ORO K24 Hydraulic disc brakes 180mm f/160m r
- Headset: FSA
- Stem: Easton EA30
- Handlebar: Easton Havoc Riser (760mm?)
- Seatpost: Easton EA70 30.9
- Saddle: Ibis (came off my Ripley 29er)
I believe I still have some new brake pads and the big ring off the XT crankset...I'll have to look (I have a lot of riding friends and we help each other out ;^D I also have the original Race Face Crankset...I think.
***Pedals not included. I may be able to supply a set of flats if needed and I can find some
