SAO Central Engineering has an immediate requirement for an Electrical Designer to join an engineering team developing science instruments for space missions and ground based astronomy. The initial assignment will be of 3- 6 months duration with the possibility of extension. This position may be filled as a direct position at a later date. <br>

QUALIFICATIONS:<br>

Knowledge of basic electronics engineering principles and practices. <br>
<br>
Specialized knowledge of design for printed circuit layout, manufacturing, and assembly. Ability to select reasonable non-critical parts for developmental electrical test and prototype systems. <br>

Mastery of one or more electrical schematic capture CAD programs such as Mentor Graphics DxDesigner (Viewdraw), or Orcad Capture, and the ability to learn additional CAD packages as the need arises. Mastery of one or more electrical board layout packages such as Mentor Graphics PADS PCB, Orcad Layout, etc. Experience with one or more mechanical design CAD packages (e.g. IDEAS, AutoCAD, Solid Works etc.) is desirable. <br>

Experience using Microsoft Word for creation and maintenance of complex electrical specifications. <br>

Enter the date code, model number, quantity of product received and failure analysis results into the field failure database. Cut the lead wire off the ballasts and scrap the ballasts and wire. Remove the asphalt potting material from the ballast. Move boxes that weigh up to 20 lbs.

The position requires strong technical knowledge. Candidate must be proficient in the use of electronic measurement equipment. Good problem solving skills. Good organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written. Good interpersonal skills. Able to work independently and in teams.
